Visiting us from a Community Organisation?
'Connecting people, protecting nature'
Our Charity encourages organisations to connect with and learn about Cromwell Bottom Nature Reserve. We offer engaging, guided walks led by knowledgeable volunteers. These walks offer an excellent way to explore the reserve’s habitats, history, wildlife and conservation work, helping participants understand the environmental value of the site and the role CBWG play in maintaining it. By experiencing the reserve first-hand groups gain meaningful insights, build a stronger connection to nature and leave with a deeper appreciation of how protecting the habitats benefits both wildlife and the wider community.
The reserve is accessible by wheelchair apart from one small section. We also have an access toilet.
If your group would like a guided walk around the reserve and not had one previously, then please get in touch:

Information for Colleges and Universities
We enjoy strong links with local colleges and universities. Students from the Media Studies department at Calderdale College, Halifax, annually base their project course work on the habitats and wildlife at Cromwell Bottom Nature Reserve. Project work starts with students and tutor visits to the reserve, which includes discussion with volunteers, photography and generating ideas for their individual projects.
The final products are exhibited in a formal presentation, either on the college premises or in our Visitor Centre, before going for accreditation. To date, many creative outcomes such as T-shirt designs, information posters, computer games, key rings, banners and badges have been produced. These provide a range of resources which are available to schools for free and opportunities for us to offer items of merchandise for purchase in the Visitor Centre.
Manchester University recently conducted a Butterfly Survey (see below) at the reassure and Huddersfield University have worked with us on various projects.
